Handwork Term Class
Learning to work with clay forms the basis of this class. You will learn the fundamental skills necessary to work successfully with clay.
Wedging, pinch pots, rolling slabs and slab building, coiling, building sculptural pieces.
Bring your imagination and ideas with you to class and I will help you create your pots using different methods.
Please be aware that we are not going to be making huge items or full dinner sets etc…this is a learning platform and we are limited by size and volume as to what can realistically fit into the kiln.

The Studio
Welcome to The Garden Pottery
Nestled in the heart of Christchurch, New Zealand, this boutique studio is where clay comes to life—transformed into tactile, earthy, and beautifully crafted pieces that reflect the rhythms of nature. With over two decades of experience, Linda Burns brings a deep connection to her material and a passion for sharing the ceramic arts.
From sculptural forms rich in texture to functional ware made for everyday rituals, each piece is thoughtfully created using traditional techniques like wheel throwing, hand-building, and slip casting. Whether you're here to explore Linda’s latest collections or to join a hands-on workshop in her serene home studio, you're invited to slow down, get inspired, and reconnect with the art of making.
